Tasty Land Kitchen is the TLK of the Town!
by Cate Murway

“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.”
(Adeline) Virginia Woolf [1882-1941]

Anwar Abusaif and his son, Nedal Abusaif are the co-owners of Tasty Land Kitchen, their family owned restaurant offering delicious, authentic food. They proudly use age-old recipes and incredibly fresh ingredients to serve the tastiest Mediterranean food on the market. Their TLK goal is to bring everyone great Mediterranean along with a taste of Philly. Their assortment of food is made with wholesome ingredients, fresh produce and healthy, choice, tender and flavorful meats that are sources of lean protein, at amazingly affordable prices.
AND….their Philly roots are NOT forgotten. TLK also serves the very best cheese steaks.

Head chef Anwar previously worked at the Ali Baba Mediterranean Cuisine in NJ, but he and his son were determined to open and own their own location. They were both well aware that choices for Mediterranean foods were usually limited to food truck selections or very high end restaurants. “We wanted to serve top notch ingredients at a very good price” and Anwar and Nedal were quite resolute about setting their idea into motion. They took their time searching for the perfect location.
“Bristol is one of the best places to begin a business with the support from the community and support from the town.” The Abusaifs had attended festivals in the Borough and those events had helped them make the decision to come here to Bristol.

TLK had a “soft opening” in mid-December. “Mr. Pezza from Raising the Bar came in and took a video.”
TLK is a new participating member of the BBBA.
“Friends, if you haven’t visited yet, you’ll love the food. Worth a visit,” shared Bill Pezza.
Fire up your taste buds without having to fire up your grill!

Anwar originally started in the food business working for his father, Nedal ‘s paternal grandfather, Mohammed “Ahmad” in Jordan in his restaurant “Injaz”, making falafel and gyro sandwiches. He developed his passion for cooking as a youth, and after completing school, he continued working in Egypt, Lebanon and Greece.
He uses those very same original ingredients and recipes preparing the meals at TLK.
“A meal that will make you feel full, nourished, all without feeling sleepy.”
The Mediterranean diet won the gold as 2019's “best overall diet” in rankings by US News and World Report.

Anwar’s son and business partner, Nedal Abusaif was born in Philadelphia. The family relocated to NJ and Nedal attended the Washington Township schools and graduated from Temple University with a degree in finance.
“I actually still work in real estate finance.”
Falafel, the ultimate Israeli street food and kabobs are among his favorites.
The chef, Natel’s father, makes it look easy but there are many steps that go into making their homemade falafel, made from scratch every single day and never frozen to ensure freshness for their customers!

Nedal’s girlfriend, Kristina Huta maintains their online presence and develops their social media advertising. It is Kristina who is credited with naming their restaurant ‘Tasty Land Kitchen’.

TLK makes its own traditional baklava, a rich, sweet dessert pastry treat made of layers of phyllo “filo” decadently filled with chopped nuts, and sweetened and held together with syrup or honey. If amazing taste isn’t enough for you, baklava also comes with a variety of health benefits as walnuts, pine nuts and almonds are high in unsaturated fat and are a great source of vitamin E, copper, magnesium and folic acid. Phyllo pastry is low in calories and free from both trans-fat and saturated fats.
Few could argue with baklava’s claim to be the most delicious and influential dessert of all!

Order some to take home and recreate this truly sweet memory.
Hey! Baklava has tons of nuts, so it is practically a protein bar….. right?

TLK’s homemade soups are intensely delicious, too. “We change them up very often”.
P.S. Try the lentil soup…. it’s amazing!
Did you know that lentils can be highly beneficial for heart health?

Possibilities are endless with richly flavored, delicious lamb, commonly used in Middle Eastern cooking.
Mary Ann [Coffman] Akbayrak, BHS ’76 was waiting at a table for her lamb kabob and shepherd salad order. “I like Mediterranean food and I am following a ‘Keto’ [ketogenic] diet.”

Grab a seat!
One can actually sit down for a meal that is filled with everything taste buds, mind and body want at that moment. Healthy eating is one way to find joy and pleasure.
Try their Musakan [roasted chicken] wrap; a TLK special you won't find anywhere else.

One of the dishes is even named for Nedal’s mom.
The “Luma”, a roasted eggplant delicacy is served over rice.
Their ‘kid-friendly’ foods include chicken tenders and cheese steaks. Everything is homemade and there’s something for everyone on the menu.
