Shackamaxon truly Caters to You!
by Cate Murway

Life is too short for imperfection!
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Let "All Seasons Catering by Shackamaxon" turn your next event into an unforgettable experience.
Excellence, professionalism, and respect for diversity are their core values, developing a vast distinctive culinary landscape as food is attached in so many ways to culture.
There's a whole menu of reasons why Shackamaxon stands out from the crowd.

Shackamaxon is older than Philadelphia itself [Indian scholars translate it to mean “meeting place of chiefs”], a famous Kensington neighborhood where the Sachems [a title of leadership] or Native American chiefs of the Delaware (Lenni- Lenape) Indians gathered.

The most important ingredients in "All Seasons Catering by Shackamaxon's" recipe for success are the astute director of event planning, cross country/track/tennis athlete Paul David Spangler, William Tennent ‘80/Drexel U.; and the head chef, superbly skilled, phenomenally talented Dane Allen Miller, Culinary Institute of America. They have a strong foundation and extensive knowledge in the diverse, exciting food world. When you combine entrepreneurial spirits of this caliber, you get extraordinary events centered around remarkably superior innovative menus. They continually explore and create new dishes to delight the senses, using only the freshest ingredients.
The result of this happy mixture of passion, creativity, dedication, and skill is exuberant, exciting, extraordinary food.

A love of good food and a creative flair charted the future course for this highly respected upscale, gourmet catering business, a rising star in the culinary world.
Paul and Dean select the finest produce, meats and cheeses from local purveyors.
Taste and presentation are the hallmarks of this skilled team and the results are visual and sensory masterpieces. They have successfully teamed up to form one of the most enthusiastic, dedicated partnerships. Anything worth having is worth working for!
This small exclusive firm orchestrates elegant parties with unlimited ideas and concepts, created with the vision imparted by their clients.

Paul is the moving force in this growing company and the creative genius behind it, bringing his fresh vitality and sharpened vision. He started working as a union waiter for kosher caterers and union hotels while he was still in High School. He sealed a Dunkin Donuts franchise purchase in 1982.
Paul’s next venture was a catering partnership, Davis Caterers with the late owner Harry Davis. In 1987, Harry and Paul started the Willow Grove Dinner Theater in the ballroom of the Fiesta Motor Lodge on Easton Road in Willow Grove.
In 1994, Paul opened “My Caterer” kosher catering, an off premise cuisine extraordinaire, maintaining kashrut without ever sacrificing quality.
The clients were so very "over the top" satisfied!

In 2002, when he purchased Shackamaxon, he prided himself on incorporating many services in the realm of entertainment, decor and event planning that far exceed the typical caterer. Their "total concepts, total creativity" truly reflects the personal attention and customized events they offer their clients.

Paul’s parents, research market analyst H. Donald and Ruth [Tabaac] Spangler operated Spangler Foods, seasonal concessions at swim clubs. Paul started in the food and beverage industry with them and never left it.
He and his wife, Beth, Lower Moreland ‘80/Temple/ M.Ed Arcadia, have two children, Rachel [13] and Alexander [8]. Alexander’s Spirits, the bar in the Holiday Inn Philadelphia Northeast Hotel is named for his son. He has a younger brother, Joel B., PSU ‘90/NYU M.B.A, a Merrill Lynch financial advisor and an older sister, Dr. Robin M. Spangler, M.D., University of Delaware/ Temple University School of Medicine.

Dane and his wife, Florence, Palmyra H.S ’71 at one time owned Dane’s Classical Cuisine in Cinnaminson and they still reside in New Jersey. They have 3 children, Eric, Drexel; R.N. Dana, and computer disk maker, Kristopher. They are the proud grandparents of Quinton and McAllister.

These highly respected caterers and event planners predominantly focus on premier upscale catering for corporate events and weddings. Their high-end fare embraces a kaleidoscope of the highest quality in cuisine, customized for their clientele.
Paul and Dane finish the food onsite to replicate the upcoming event and provide a tasting in advance of a wedding so the bride and groom can choose the exact cuisine that meets their needs. This service is designed to give a small “taste” of the beautiful and unique menus that will enhance your special event. They will listen carefully and ensure that each bride’s distinct vision is reflected in every detail.
Clearly Shackamaxon goes the extra mile to personalize each and every party.

Their real work is in the details that lead up to the occasion, ensuring that the purpose is achieved seamlessly. They work long and non-traditional hours to plan and execute all details and they remain calm and personable under pressure. Your planned event is about people; so these successful event planners are able to fulfill the desires of each client by listening effectively to what they want. Paul and Dane never quail at the idea of intense hard work! Shackamaxon provides a unique “one stop” resource that sets them apart from all others and their dedication is built around customer service far beyond your expectations. It fits their client's budget and achieves their targeted goals!
