Hems Keeps Your Car Humming!
by Cate Murway

Your automobile is one of your most important investments.
Protect that investment by choosing the RIGHT Automobile Repair Professional.
Quality repair is not expensive ... it's PRICELESS!
Integrity is Hems Auto and Truck Repairs’ hallmark.  Rotary Award winner for Achieving Student of the Year, Roland James Hems III, Neshaminy H.S. class of ‘98 and captain of the equestrian team Megan Elizabeth McAleer, Pennsbury H.S. ‘00/BCCC/Kutztown ’06 truly offer a one-stop solution for your auto repair and car maintenance needs. Your entire customer experience is important to them. They run a fully functional auto and truck repair business at 2080 Farragut Avenue in historic Bristol on the Delaware.

Spend a few minutes with Roland and you’ll appreciate his wholesome and scrupulously honest approach and attention to detail. He loves fixing cars and it shows!
“We’re here when you need us” is their motto.
When your purpose-driven car seems to be functioning below expected standards and needs something a little more than a catchy slogan, stop in to see Roland and Megan. They take the time to explain any needed car repairs whether you are mechanically inclined or car clueless. You are sure to be completely satisfied with the work being done. Trust wins points and they never want to breach that trust!

What will make your car run better?
Preventative maintenance is a fundamental part, but that is not possible in the case of vehicles that are not regularly maintained by a mechanic. Most people come in only when their car is in dire straits, when regular preventive maintenance could have avoided the problems of your car sputtering, stalling, or getting poor gas mileage. Could it be that simple? Don’t wait until your car cries, “I am old and tired. My steering is wobbly, my brakes mushy, and I don’t want to go on. I shall conk out here.”
You most likely do not want to sell your vehicle and start biking to work! Scheduled maintenance services will save you valuable time and money and keep your car running in tip-top shape.
Remember- motor oil and filter should be changed every 3000 miles or 3 months.
Your tires are rotated every other oil change and your car will be treated to a complete undercarriage inspection.

Roland [we'll keep you rollin'] Hems opened 2 years ago with one goal in mind: to provide automotive service at the highest level with his mastery of a wide variety of integrated skills.  Don't trust your valuable transportation, the vehicle that carries your family through life's daily trips, to just anyone. Pick your repair facility like you would your family doctor. In the long run, this approach saves you not only money, but time and aggravation. Even more importantly, a well maintained vehicle is a much safer one.

Roland and Megan started “shop shopping” in July 07 and located the original Farmco Auto Electric building for their business and opened in December 07.
Roland’s family includes his sisters, Rachel and Bobbie-Jo [who occasionally assists in the office] and the youngest, Paul Frederick Charles. His cousin, Patrick also helps out at the shop. Roland proudly shared, “I built my first car when I was only 14 years old.”
“Cars is the job and cars is the hobby!” assured Megan.

Megan grew up in Morrisville with her parents, Eugene “Gene” Anthony and Kathleen Ann “Kathy” [Clark] McAleer and her two sisters, Horsham resident Jeanne and Colleen, Pennsbury /BCCC. She and Roland, both born on a Monday, have been friends since their teen years.
While studying at KU, Megan was totally involved with coordinating events for Eckhaus, a non-profit student run art gallery. Roland especially appreciated the endearingly low-tech mixed-media construction works of sculptor Gene Hracho, created with scavenged wood, metal, and [of, course!] car parts.

Bristol roots run deeply! Hems Truck & Auto Motor Repairing proudly includes mechanic Jeremy John Kastrup, Truman H.S. class of ’93, former employee of Magnum Automotive in Levittown. Jeremy’s wife is Jessica [Cicconi], Truman H.S. ‘99 and his father-in-law owns Fred’s Silver Lake Barber Shop & Family Hair Styling on Bath Road.

Roland and Megan’s company prides itself on providing friendly customer service and comprehensive expert repair service, just as they would to anyone in their own family.  They want to give you a great experience when it comes to your auto repair and maintenance.
Hems Auto is certified for PA State Inspection and PA Emission Inspection.

Start shopping for a repair facility BEFORE you need one. Why? Because a more sound decision is made when you're not facing an urgency because your vehicle just broke down. Poorer choices are made under the stress of the moment.
Ask about Hems Truck & Auto Motor Repairing and you will hear responses like, "They fix my car right the first time." "I can trust them to do the job at a fair price." "They welcome my questions and concerns and take the time to answer them." "There are never any surprises when I come to pick up the car." "They patiently explain in plain English what the problem is and explain my options."

Per Lafayette Street resident Daniel James Wyher, “They quoted me a price that was unbeatable. The mechanic, Jeremy talked with me about my tires, not just like I was a customer, but like I was one of his buddies!”

Roland’s patience with detail is evident in his craftsmanship. He is highly systematic and orderly and very generous in giving of his knowledge and experience. He made the decision to install Jasper remanufactured engines and transmissions, assuring totally remanufactured components for “the best value in these uncertain financial times”.

Hems Truck and Auto Motor Repair offers a wide variety of auto repair and maintenance services to keep your car or truck running smoothly, including oil changes, transmission repair, and brake work. They are also equipped to provide for all of your commercial truck needs, preventive maintenance and repair for tractor-trailers and commercial fleets.
Roland and Megan proudly offer free estimates and a custom maintenance schedule to give the customer complete control.
No worries! “Nothing is an inconvenience. Nothing is a problem. It’s all nuts and bolts!”
There’s a key drop in the front door. Just leave a message!
Hems Truck and Auto Motor Repair provides an honest job at an honest price.

“We love the Borough and we would love to settle here. It’s such a cute little town!”
They enjoy onion rings and BLT wraps from Philly Famous. A favorite stop is at Cannoli coffee bar & gelateria café for a refreshing café mocha after their Spur Line Trail walk.
They are both Benevolent and Protective Order of Bristol Elks #970 members. Megan is the elected Lodge Esquire who carries out the orders of the Exalted Ruler, Robert Charles Hems [Roland’s dad].
“Megan is exceptionally dedicated and she excels in her position!” per Stanley H. Ogryzek, Elks PER 2005-2007.
She waitresses for the BBCP burger nights held at the Elks Lodge [all proceeds go to a great cause, programs to aid in the positive development of our youth and their families, strengthening Bristol Borough] and together they “brought a little sunshine over” when they volunteered to assist at the ice cream social for the Silver Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center residents.

They appreciate that historic Bristol on the Delaware maintains a caring, friendly, small-town, community atmosphere. AND they do their part!
