A Legacy of Achievement…. A Commitment to the Future

Tomorrow's leaders are in the classrooms today.
Here is a chance to help change someone's life and inspire tomorrow’s leaders. Find out first hand just how rewarding that can be!
Community members and business people are invited to tee off in support of local Bristol Borough students at the 13th Annual BAAA Golf Outing to be held on September 19, 2016 at the Spring Mill Country Club in Ivyland, PA. It’s FORE the students!

Scholarship Golf Classic chairman, Ronald Harry Sherratt explained, “This BAAA 13th Annual Golf Outing is an excellent opportunity for networking and to play a friendly game of golf while raising funds for scholarships. In addition to playing on a top course in the community with all the amazing participants, the golfers, guests and sponsors, we help students with the support they need to be successful. We’re having a good time playing and making money for the organization to continue its good works.” The WHOLE is WON!
Ron coached the late BHS athlete, Gene “Beanye” White when BHS won the District Championships. Track star “Beanye” White, a 1970 graduate finished first in the triple jump, the long jump and the high jump at both districts and states in his junior and senior seasons. White was inducted into the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame, the PA Track and Field Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997 and received the Courier Times Outstanding Achievement Award in 1969 and 1970.

Ron is a retired BHS Accounting/ Business Math teacher who works with mutual funds at Lincoln Investment in Jenkintown, “really providing 403b investments for teachers and helping teachers for their retirement.” His wife, Diane Marie [Oriolo] will assist him at the Golf Event, working at the registration table.

One-time financial gifts for both athletic and academic achievements have been awarded to deserving students who oftentimes do not qualify for federal or state financial aid. “Budgets are tighter” so BAAA funds can even provide supplementary items for the teachers through Approved Academic Grants for innovative non-funded projects or worthwhile field trips.
“Last year's event brought in a little over $11,000. That was the most ever and will be tough to beat. Most of our income comes from our sponsors and we are a little short there this year,” Ron acknowledged.

The Bristol Alumni & Athletic Association, formerly the Bristol Senior Athletic Association, has donated over $115,000 to deserving students with Bristol High School athletic and academic scholarships since its inception in 2004. Historic Bristol on the Delaware has produced some great athletes, many terrific athletic teams and powerful role models over the years!
You are cordially invited to reserve your place at the impeccably landscaped Spring Mill Country Club in historic Ivyland on Jacksonville Road for the Bristol Alumni & Athletic Association’s 13th Annual Scholarship Golf Classic on Monday, September 19, 2016.
Guests always find consistently challenging greens, tight fairways, and strategically placed hazards that provide a true test of golf. Come join them for TEE!
Registration for the Golf Classic is only $160.00 per person and that includes a deluxe buffet luncheon, driving range facilities and eighteen holes of golf on fine fairways and groomed greens with cart, a 4-station, full course buffet dinner, and a non-alcoholic hospitality cart on the course, and a two-hour open bar with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Shower and clubhouse usage is included.

The special features of the day also include a complimentary bag of golf related items, along with a keepsake historic Bristol composite collage postcard of signature historic borough buildings designed by veteran, Robert John “Bob” Wynne, BHS ’65.

There are prizes for the winning teams, [longest drive, closest to the pin, putting contests] and complimentary refreshments on the course.
The BAAA will also hold a “50-50” and sell $5.00 chance tickets to win $500.00, $250.00 or $100.00 in the drawing at the end of the outing. Guests are encouraged to bid at the Silent Auction to “Spend a Day with 94WIP's sports radio personality, Angelo Cataldi & The Morning Team” ["Oooh yeah" ] or leave with some more tangible goods and purchase some of the ultimate collector’s dream sports memorabilia provided by James Paul “Jim” Lutz, Jr. from his ‘Bucks County Baseball Cards’ store on Mill Street. Walk-ins are welcome!

Retired BHS Earth Science teacher, Michael Joseph “Mike” Russo, BHS ‘66 is celebrating his 5th year in the BAAA, having assumed the “very busy” corresponding secretary position from Frank Albin Barbetta BHS ’50. He and his wife, Wanda, a retired Morrisville School teacher and BHS librarian have two daughters, Jenna, former BHS softball pitcher and Dana, a BHS bowling team member, and two grandchildren. He grew up on Cedar Street behind St. Mark’s Convent, playing basketball and baseball, and fishing and bicycling in the Borough.
“I have a sense of duty to the community and I certainly enjoy keeping in contact with my colleagues. I’m honored to work with the founding members of the BAAA organization who are such a source of inspiration.” Mike and his son-in-law, Bob Baiocchi, also a BHS graduate, will be golfing in a foursome.

The BAAA is enthusiastically looking to secure additional sponsorships. Event and team, company and personal sponsorships are available at all levels, so there is still time to help their mission.
Support as a $500.00 ‘Principal Title Sponsor’ entitles your company name to be displayed on all literature and signage throughout the golf course and in the dining facilities. The Title Sponsor will also receive front page acknowledgements on the day’s schedule brochure.
A ‘Flag Sponsorship’ is $200.00, or companies can opt to purchase a sign with their logo and contact information that will be strategically placed on the tee of one of the holes for $100.00.
Donations from local businesses of products, services, or gift certificates are greatly appreciated.
Their scholarship funds are raised chiefly through these incredible golf outings held yearly in September, through their nominal BAAA membership dues, a yearly lottery, and from the much appreciated donations of dedicated and concerned friends.
The BAAA is a 501(c)3. Itemized donation deductions may be of benefit at income tax time.

Come join in this most enjoyable Golf Outing and invest in the success of the local students who will benefit from a continued education and become valuable members of our neighboring communities.

The BAAA members are actively looking for the next generation of leaders to continue to provide the dedication, determination and sacrifice to fuel excellence into the lives of the future generations. They welcome new members to their meetings that are hosted at member’s homes on Tuesdays at 7:00 pm. The $15.00 yearly membership fees are designated for the scholarships.
